The title of the book, the word “Art” followed by action verb like “loving,” gives an impression of art of deception rather than love. I am surprised that it continues to be lazily labelled “timeless” by today’s reviewers.

The outdated ideas of this book on women, motherhood and parenthood in generalchildren and childhood, gender, fgomm activity, and homosexuality makes the text very annoying and disturbing, and difficult to read in some parts. The outdated concepts of gender and sexuality, including obnoxiously heteronormative bits, kept me irritated and disconnected from his main themes which weren’t even convincingly argued on their own.
