But literally halfway through the book, something really odd happens. I had advance warning that this book takes gick rather large turn, and I azhes openly confess right now that I was cocky. When they arrive, ashees, Tom has vanished. Rule is feeding them. Initially rescued by Alex and then Tom, Ellie is kidnapped by some very nasty adults who see her as a meal ticket. I went into this book expecting light entertainment but ended up liking everything about it more than I expected!
There is half-assed foreshadowing at many chapter ends and all the book sections that is overly portentous. She tells it as it is, blood and teeth scattered across the ground, entrails being sucked like spagetti, eyeballs being zshes out and eaten Thanks for telling us about the problem.
Yet the months slip by and life develops a mind-numbing routine that begins to wear Alex down in a kind of acceptance. And just when you think she gives up, she slaps you upside the head and proves you wrong.
Ilsa does everything with her characters that I hope to do with mine. But I had to finish it, just so I could give you a complete picture on why this story irks me ilza my very core. Everything is so expertly figured out that it’s hard, if not impossible, to find loopholes in the logic. Chris makes many overtures she rejects, but she does grow fond of him.
